Panel Discussion - Enduring Powers of Attorney
The Office of the Citizens’ Representative (the OCR), in association with the Seniors’ Resource Centre of Newfoundland and Labrador (SRCNL), will hold a panel discussion regarding enduring powers of attorney (EPA’s) on Tuesday, March 24, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at the Fairfield (Marriott), 199 Kenmount Road, St. John’s.
EPA’s are useful legal tools for people who wish to plan for their financial affairs should they become incapacitated. Unfortunately, citizens, and particularly seniors, may face challenges with the execution, use, and abuse of EPA’s. A panel of local experts will present an overview of some of the broad medical, legal, financial, and social issues associated with EPA’s. The panelists will present some important considerations and raise questions to generate critical thinking.
Moderator: | Dr. Gail Wideman, School of Social Work, Memorial University of Newfoundland | Panel Speakers: | Barry Fleming, Q.C., Citizens’ Representative Dr. Susan Mercer, Memorial University of Newfoundland John Goodland, Deputy Public Trustee Lynn Butler, Wills and Estates Consultant, Lawyer, Author, Public Speaker |
The presentation will be followed by a Question and Answer session and is open to the public.
