Offshore Development Supports Strong Economy

CNLOPB Approves Amended Application for White Rose Extension Project

The Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) announced yesterday that Husky Energy’s Development Plan amendment application for the White Rose Extension Project has received conditional approval.

“The Provincial Government is pleased to see that the amendment application for the White Rose Extension Project has received conditional approval. We acknowledge that a final financial investment decision on this project has not been made and is still being assessed by Husky Energy and its partners. Husky remains very committed to its operations in the Newfoundland and Labrador offshore and continues its other White Rose Expansion work.”
- The Honourable Derrick Dalley, Minister of Natural Resources

In addition, the C-NLOPB also updated the reserves and resources for the White Rose Field, which now reflects an increased recoverable estimate of 165 million barrels of oil.

The West White Rose project remains an important part of Husky’s Atlantic Region portfolio, which is expected to be in production in the 2020 timeframe.
