Public Advisory: Rainfall Warnings Issued for Some Regions of Province

Fire and Emergency Services-Newfoundland and Labrador encourages residents of the Northern Peninsula, West Coast, and the Labrador Straits to be mindful of potential flooding or washouts as rainfall, at times heavy, is forecast for the region this evening.

Although this system is not expected to bring as much rain to the province as is forecast for the Maritimes, the rainfall totals here are expected to be in the 40-60mm range for much of the West Coast and to exceed 60mm in portions of the Northern Peninsula and the Labrador Straits. Motorists are additionally warned that the Trans Labrador Highway near the Labrador Straits is expected to receive wet snow but minimal accumulation.

The public is reminded to follow the latest weather forecast for further alert bulletins and to take measures to ensure personal safety. Monitor weather forecasts and warnings by visiting Environment Canada's website: weather.gc.ca/warnings/index_e.html?prov=nl
