Investing in Health Care for Communities and Families
Springdale Receives Investment of Over $450,000 Health Care
The Provincial Government has invested over $450,000 for the Springdale area to assist with the purchase of new equipment and upgrades. The announcement was made today by Kevin Pollard, Parliamentary Secretary to the Honourable Steve Kent, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health and Community Services, together with Rosemarie Goodyear, President and Chief Executive Officer of Central Health.

By investing in health care facilities in Springdale, we are ensuring that residents, families and communities have access to reliable infrastructure and state-of-the-art equipment."

The Valley Vista Seniors Home will receive an investment of $200,000 to assist with the replacement of boiler pipes at the facility. Approximately $66,000 will be provided for the purchase of wheelchairs, as well as food service equipment including an oven and food service trolleys.

The new equipment and infrastructure upgrades will enhance health care services available to the people in this region. These investments indicate the commitment that government has made to enhancing programs and services for residents in the Springdale area and throughout the entire province."

The Green Bay Health Centre will receive funding of $184,000 for new equipment including a new ambulance, wheelchairs, a washer for laundry services and a stretcher for the emergency room.
"The Town of Springdale gratefully acknowledges the continued Provincial Government investment in healthcare in the Green Bay region. This most recent investment will help ensure the highest level of service delivery for all residents in the area."

In addition, as part of Budget, the Provincial Government provided approximately $2.3 million to advance the development of a new health care centre in Springdale. The design of the new facility is in the final stages and the tender for construction is expected to be issued later this month.
Budget 2015 includes a total of $133.7 million to ensure access to new and modern health care facilities and equipment for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, including $40 million for new health care equipment and $20 million for repair and renovation projects.
