Enhancing Health Care for Families and Communities

Investment of $245,000 Provides Health Care Enhancements in the Region of Baie Verte

The Provincial Government is providing $245,000 for new equipment and upgrades at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre. The announcement was made today by Kevin Pollard, Parliamentary Secretary to the Honourable Steve Kent, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health and Community Services together with Rosemarie Goodyear, President and Chief Executive Officer of Central Health.

The new equipment and upgrades to the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Care Centre will enhance the services and programs that are available, and ensure that this facility is able to provide highest quality of care."

About $100,000 will be used for equipment including new trolleys for the meal delivery system and resident handling equipment such as mechanical lifts to assist staff in the safe handling and movement of residents.

The remaining $145,000 will assist with upgrades to the hot water boiler system which will help ensure the continued comfort of patients and staff.

Budget 2015 includes a total of $133.7 million to ensure access to new and modern health care facilities and equipment for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, including $40 million for new health care equipment and $20 million for repair and renovation projects.
