Enhancing Health Care for Residents and Communities

Residents of Placentia - St. Mary�s Region Benefit from $750,000 Investment in Health Care

The Provincial Government is investing $750,000 to be used for the purchase of new equipment at health care centres in Whitbourne and Placentia.

The Dr. William H. Newhook Health Centre in Whitbourne will receive approximately $600,000 for the purchase of a new x-ray machine.

�Investments such as these enhance overall support for healthcare programs and services in this region. This allocation of $750,000 will benefit both patients and staff in the facilities in Placentia and Whitbourne and lead to higher quality care of residents and families.�

The new x-ray machine will be used for the diagnostic imaging unit and will provide enhanced services to improve patient care.

An allocation of approximately $150,000 will result in the replacement beds and bathtubs for long-term care and a washer for environmental services at the Placentia Health Care Centre.

Budget 2015 includes a total of $133.7 million to ensure access to new and modern health care facilities and equipment for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, including $40 million for new health care equipment and $20 million for repair and renovation projects.
