Celebrating Newfoundland and Labrador's Youth

Premier Presents the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Bronze Standard

Recognizing a commitment to community and personal development, the Honourable Paul Davis, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, presented 37 young people with the Bronze Standard of Achievement yesterday (Tuesday, June 23) to mark their successful participation in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Program. The ceremony was held at the Confederation Building in St. John's.

"Young people cannot achieve the Duke of Edinburgh's Award without challenging themselves. It takes real effort and real commitment, but the reward at the end is significant. I am proud to celebrate their achievements which are recognized through this prestigious awards program."

Supported annually by the Provincial Government, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a personal development program for young people ages 14-25, regardless of gender, background or ability, and operates in over 140 countries.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Division also has one of the strongest outreach programs for at-risk youth in the country, encouraging their participation in this program."
