Provincial Government Releases Public Tender to Mitigate Oil Seepage at Shoal Point

The Provincial Government has called a tender for excavation work to isolate and cap the specific source of oil seepage at Shoal Point, located on the Port au Port Peninsula.

The tender is based on an assessment report and further design work completed by AMEC Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure. Once a contract is awarded, the area will be excavated to isolate the specific source of the leak in order to contain it. We have asked AMEC to be onsite to supervise the work.
- The Honourable Dan Crummell, Minister of Environment and Conservation

The tender will procure the services of a contractor to locate, excavate and seal the suspected leak. The tender will close on October 28. Work should start late November and expected to be completed in approximately 10 days.

The Provincial Government remains committed to ensuring a clean and sustainable environment for the health and well-being of the residents of Newfoundland and Labrador.
