The Honourable Dan Crummell, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following event relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.
EIS AND AMENDMENT ACCEPTED:
Wabush 3 Open Pit Mine Project (Reg. 1711)
Proponent: Iron Ore Company of Canada
A review has been completed of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) submitted August 8, 2014, and the amendment submitted March 3, 2015. These documents comply with Part X of the Environmental Protection Act (the Act) and the EIS Guidelines issued April 3, 2014 and require no further work. The minister will now be recommending to the Lieutenant-Governor in Council whether or not this project can proceed as per Section 67 of the Act, subject to terms and conditions.
