Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Dan Crummell, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

Emerillon Lake (Lab West) Slaughter House                                                 (Reg. 1784)
Proponent: K&R Farms

The proponent proposes a cattle farming operation and meat production facility (slaughter house) at Emerillon Lake, located 45 kilometres east of Labrador West. The beef cattle farm will include construction of a barn and meat processing room for a slaughter house. The project will include clearing of pasture land starting with 25 acres and up to 200 acres in 3-5 years. Construction is planned to begin in spring 2015.

The undertaking was registered on February 18, 2015; the deadline for public comments is April 2, 2015, and the minister�s decision is due by April 4, 2015.

Indian River Cottage Lot Development                                                                                                        (Reg. 1785)
Proponent: Noble�s Holdings Inc.

The proponent has submitted a proposal to develop 56 unserviced cottage lots in the Indian River area on 52 hectares of private land. An existing access road will need to be upgraded and extended a further 1.5 kilometres. Two small streams will need to be crossed and the proposed development will occur within 200 metres of the Indian River, a scheduled salmon river.

The undertaking was registered on February 19, 2015; the deadline for public comments is April 2, 2015, and the minister�s decision is due by April 5, 2015.
