Recognizing High School Student Achievement

Exploits Valley High Student Named 2015 Lester B. Pearson Scholar

Kirsten Dalley of Bishop�s Falls is this year�s recipient of the Lester B. Pearson Scholarship for Newfoundland and Labrador.

�Students throughout Newfoundland and Labrador continue to excel and are making their mark in this province and on a national scale. Kirsten Dalley is being recognized for her outstanding academic achievement and exceptional volunteer activities, qualities she has demonstrated throughout high school. Being honoured with the Lester B. Pearson Scholarship is a tremendous achievement, for which Kirsten and her family should be extremely proud. This award is also a testament to the hard work and dedication of the teachers and administrators who have guided and encouraged Kirsten along her school career. I offer my sincere congratulations to Kirsten on this great achievement.�

The Lester B. Pearson Scholarship is valued at $80,000 for two years of pre-university study at Pearson College, a United World College in Victoria, B.C. The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development contributes $68,000 to the scholarship, with the remainder provided through corporate and community sponsors.

In September, Kirsten will attend Pearson College and join Isaac Bonisteel, a former student at Crescent Collegiate in Blaketown, who was awarded the scholarship last year.
