Supporting Business Through Strategic Investments

CareGivers Inc. to Roll out Innovative Training Solution with the Help of Provincial Government Funding

CareGivers Inc., a home care services provider, is able to better market its innovative new training software, Home Care One, as a result of $40,500 in Provincial Government funding. Home Care One is a custom courseware solution that will provide standardized training for CareGivers Inc. workers and other industry professionals. Funding will support marketing of the new software via tradeshows and other promotional activities.

"With increasing demand for home care services, it is important that people have access to the best possible care that suits their individual needs. I commend CareGivers Inc. for tackling this issue through a new training method that will be easily adaptable to new standards. Strong communities with necessary services and amenities are essential to maintaining and increasing the province's population, and our government is committed to supporting such initiatives, as highlighted in our Population Growth Strategy."
- The Honourable Darin King, Minister of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development

CareGivers Inc. is the province's largest provider of homecare and residential services and was the first private agency in the province to be nationally accredited by Accreditation Canada. By investing in a custom software training program and improving the skills of its current employees, CareGivers Inc. will be able to improve productivity, competitiveness and capacity by providing consistent training uniformly throughout the organization.

"We identified a need for standardized training for our workers and have responded with an innovative solution called Home Care One. Every one of our home support workers will have access to this training for free and we plan to roll it out on a fee-for-service basis to other care providers throughout Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada and the United States. The funding provided by the department has leveraged our own significant investment in our workers and clients, and will allow us to market this training program nationally and internationally."
- Anne Whelan, President and CEO, CareGivers Inc.

The Provincial Government is committed to supporting initiatives that nurture strong communities, as outlined in the population growth strategy, Live Here, Work Here, Belong Here, A Population Growth Strategy for Newfoundland and Labrador, 2015-2025. The strategy ensures investments and programs are aligned to encourage individuals to choose Newfoundland and Labrador to live, work and raise a family.
