Public Advisory: Provincial Historic Sites and Visitor Information Centres Open This Weekend

Six Government of Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Visitor Information Centres are opening Friday, May 15, for the summer season. The centres are located in Port aux Basques, Deer Lake Highway, Notre Dame Junction, Clarenville, Whitbourne, and Argentia. The Visitor Information Centres located within airports at Deer Lake and St. John�s are open year-round.

Newfoundland and Labrador�s Provincial Historic Sites will open Saturday, May 16.

Provincial Historic Sites opening this weekend include:

  • The Commissariat (St. John�s);
  • Newman Wine Vaults (St. John�s);
  • Cape Bonavista Lighthouse;
  • Mockbeggar Plantation (Bonavista);
  • Trinity Visitor Centre;
  • Hiscock House (Trinity);
  • Mercantile Premises (Trinity);
  • Beothuk Interpretation Centre (Boyd�s Cove);
  • Cupids Cove Plantation (Cupids); and
  • Point Amour Lighthouse.

The Heart�s Content Cable Station is currently undergoing renovations and will not open May 16. It is scheduled to open this season and a public advisory will be issued when it is ready to open. The Colonial Building in St. John�s remains closed for restoration this season.
