Music Industry Continues to Promote Province�s Identity

Province Congratulates 2015 ECMA Winners

The best and brightest of Atlantic Canada�s music industry were honoured last night at the East Coast Music Awards (ECMA) gala, which was held at the Jack Byrne Arena in Torbay. The gala was attended by the Honourable Paul Davis, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Honourable Darin King, Minister of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development.

�Congratulations to all the 2015 ECMA winners; they are the heart of our local music industry and make us all so proud. East Coast Music Week and the awards gala bring tremendous opportunities to the province�s music industry, including networking, exposure and recognition opportunities for artists and the music industry as a whole. The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is very proud to have been a part of supporting another successful music week and I congratulate all the 2015 nominees and winners and everyone that made this year�s ECMA�s such a success.�

The East Coast Music Association is a regional collaboration of music industry professionals in Atlantic Canada. The primary activity of the association is the annual East Coast Music Week, a five-day event that attracts industry professionals, talent buyers, media, and record labels from around the globe. East Coast Music Week includes the ECMA gala, one of the country�s premier music events. A list of the 2015 ECMA winners can be found in the backgrounder below.

�Congratulations to all of last night�s Eastlink East Coast Music Awards winners. Jonny Harris did a fantastic job hosting, and the musical performances were all thrilling and inspiring. The gala really showcases the diverse musical talent that is coming out of East Coast Canada today. East Coast Music Week 2015 offers a dynamic array of industry-centered gatherings, including the SOCAN Song Writers Circle, various musical showcases, and the ECMA International Buyers Program. The province contributed $306,000 in support of the 2015 East Coast Music Week activities and events that promote and celebrate East Coast music and its artists.
