Public Advisory: Update on Freight and Passenger Service to North Coast of Labrador

The Department of Transportation and Works advises that the marine terminals at Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Lewisporte will begin accepting dry freight for shipping to Rigolet, Makkovik, Postville, Hopedale, and Black Tickle on Monday, June 23. Sailing times for the MV Astron will be confirmed next week.

Ice conditions continue to prevent ferry service to Nain and Natuashish. Federal and Provincial Government air subsidies remain in place for retailers to help offset the cost of air freight on such products as fresh milk and perishable food items. In the interim, ice conditions continue to be closely monitored.

The schedule for passenger ferry service on the MV Northern Ranger will be confirmed next week.
