Investments in Transportation Infrastructure Support New Opportunities in Labrador

Progress Continues on Phase III of the Trans Labrador Highway

A tender has been called to continue with upgrading 80 kilometres of Route 510 from Happy Valley-Goose Bay towards Cartwright. This will continue Phase III of one of the largest provincial road improvement projects in Newfoundland and Labrador’s history. To date, more than $500 million has been invested in advancing the development of the Trans Labrador Highway.

“Socially and economically, the Trans Labrador Highway is providing greater accessibility between communities and is opening doors to new opportunities for both residents and businesses. This tender for Phase III of the Trans Labrador Highway marks the continued progress and success of one of the largest infrastructure projects in Newfoundland and Labrador.”
- The Honourable Nick McGrath, Minister of Transportation and Works

The tender will include widening and upgrading of the existing subgrade and supply and installation of culvert extensions, including end treatments. Additionally, supply and placement of road gravel for driving surface, and the removal and reinstallation of signs and guardrails.

“The investment in the Trans Labrador Highway has improved the ability of Labradorians to be connected, not only to different regions and businesses, but to each other as people. Continuing work on this project establishes the Trans Labrador Highway as a key component of our provincial transportation network.”
- Keith Russell, MHA for Lake Melville
