Public Advisory: Update on Ferry Reassignments for Bell Island and St. Brendan’s
The Department of Transportation and Works advises of the following temporary ferry reassignments for Bell Island and St. Brendan’s as vessel mechanical repairs are completed:
- MV Sound of Islay is finalizing repairs and expected to return to the Bell Island service by Sunday, January 19. An earlier return is possible. MV Sound of Islay will relieve the MV Grace Sparkes and join the MV Galatea on the Bell Island run.
- MV Grace Sparkes will then depart for St. Brendan’s. Service in St. Brendan’s is expected to resume by Monday, January 20. Contingency helicopter service will then conclude.
- MV Flanders is expected to return to the Bell Island service on Monday, January 20.
- MV Sound of Islay will then depart for Fogo Island - Change Islands to join MV Beaumont Hamel
by Wednesday, January 22.
Further updates will be provided if required. The Department of Transportation and Works apologizes for any inconvenience to ferry users and appreciates their patience and cooperation during temporary reassignment of vessels.
