Pre-Canada Games Interest Drives an Increase in Participation Rates at Target Shooting Competition

This past weekend, 18 athletes competed in an air gun match at the Frank Zahn Marksmanship Training Centre at Memorial University. A higher-than-usual number of athletes participated in the competition.

Ben Taylor won the senior men’s rifle event with 598.9 and Mario Dimitrov won the senior men’s pistol event with 567.

Brothers Daniel and Martin Dimitrov won the junior men’s rifle and pistol events shooting 583.1 and 465 respectively. Timothy Rozee was top rifle sharpshooter.

In women’s rifle, Samantha Marsh shot 389.2 winning both the top senior and junior title. Emily Keeping took both the top senior and junior women’s air pistol title with a personal best of 328.

There were many new senior and junior rifle shooters. Samatha Burke shot 255.3 to be the highest newcomer in women’s rifle.  Brent Keeping was first senior Tyro and Conner Milks was first Junior Tyro.
