Premier and Deputy Premier to Open Access, Privacy, Security and Information Management Conference 2014

The Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner is pleased to present the 2014 Access, Privacy, Security and Information Management Conference, Changing the Culture: Access, Privacy, Security and Information Management in the Era of Open Government at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland on December 2 and 3, 2014. Our partners in presenting this conference are Verney Conference Management, the Office of Public Engagement, Memorial University, the Harris Center, Eastern Health and the Office of the Chief Information Officer.

The conference kicks off with opening remarks from the Honourable Premier Paul Davis, with the first plenary presentation from Deputy Premier and Minister of Public Engagement Steve Kent. In all there will be three plenary presentations, and 22 breakout sessions focused on the access, privacy, security and information management fields held over the course of two days.

Other highlights include: keynote addresses from Jonathan Gray and Suzanne Legault. Mr. Gray is Director of Policy and Research at Open Knowledge, an award-winning civil society organization dedicated to opening up public information, research and culture to benefit the lives of citizens around the world. He is also Researcher at Royal Holloway, University of London, at the Digital Methods Initiative, University of Amsterdam and at the Tow Center for Digital Journalism, Columbia University. Ms. Legault is the Information Commissioner of Canada, a role she’s held since June 2010. She previously served as Assistant Commissioner for the Office of the Information Commissioner of Canada, responsible for the Policy, Communications and Operations Branch.
