Strengthening the Provincial Electricity System

Request for Proposals Released for Independent Review of Electricity System

The Provincial Government today released the request for proposals for the independent review of the electricity system in Newfoundland and Labrador.

“In our 2007 Energy Plan, we committed to review the electricity system as we move from an isolated system to an interconnected system. January’s outages certainly demonstrated the importance of continuing our work on this Energy Plan commitment. The purpose of the request for proposals is to seek consulting expertise to undertake a review and analysis of the legislation, regulation, management, and operation of the Newfoundland and Labrador electricity system. Once the expert, independent consultant is chosen for our review, they will be required to develop a work plan and schedule.”
- The Honourable Derrick Dalley, Minister of Natural Resources

The request for proposals for the independent review of the province’s electricity system references the specific terms for the review’s scope of work. To view the request for proposals, go to //www.gpa.gov.nl.ca/gs/report/TenderGS.asp?conRFQ=RFPElectricRev

“When developing our scope of work, we considered the terms and the process for the PUB’s review. The intent of the review is to complement, not duplicate, these efforts. We support the PUB’s review and encourage the public to participate in their process. Collectively, the PUB review and the work of the independent consultant will serve to strengthen our electricity system.”
- Minister Dalley
