Making Public Safety a Priority

Provincial Government Supports Fire Services in the District of Humber Valley

The Provincial Government is investing approximately $33,000 for the purchase of firefighting equipment for communities in the District of Humber Valley.

Funding will be used to purchase two sets of Personal Protective Equipment for Cormack, three sets of Personal Protective Equipment and five pagers for Jackson’s Arm and two sets of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatuses (SCBAs) for Reidville. The equipment for each community will be cost-shared, with the Provincial Government providing 90 per cent and the communities covering the remaining 10 per cent.

The Town of Deer Lake will also receive two sets of SCBAs, which will also be cost-shared. The Provincial Government is providing 80 per cent and the town is covering the remaining 20 per cent. Detailed information on all these investments is contained in the backgrounder below.
