Improving Our Primary Health Care System

Dialogue App Will Allow All Residents to Participate in Health Care Consultations

A new interactive online engagement tool known as the Dialogue App has been launched to assist residents in providing feedback to the Provincial Government on ways in which the primary health care system in Newfoundland and Labrador can be enhanced. The app is now available at: dialogueapp.gov.nl.ca. Feedback will be used to help shape the agenda for the Premier’s Summit on Health Care on January 14, 2015.

“With a large geographic area, and many rural and remote communities, we want to ensure that all residents have an opportunity to provide feedback as part of this process. Through the new Dialogue App, people around the province will be able to make suggestions, provide feedback, share their stories or join the discussion regarding their primary health care experiences.”
- The Honourable Steve Kent, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health and Community Services

Primary health care is the day-to-day care needed to protect, maintain, and restore an individual’s health. For most people, it is both their first point of contact with the health care system and includes the health care services they use most often.

The Dialogue App was purchased from a UK software company, and adapted for the primary health care consultations by the Office of Public Engagement. The app is trusted by governments around the world and is used by more than 40 organizations on three continents. It will be available beginning today, and running through December 31. Residents can join the dialogue today at: dialogueapp.gov.nl.ca. Feedback is also being gathered through four forums taking place in November and December.
