Investing in Health Services a Benefit to Families and Communities
$52,000 Invested in Patient Services for Health Centre in St. Lawrence
The U.S. Memorial Health Centre in St. Lawrence will benefit from an investment of $52,000 for patient service equipment.

This ranges from medical care to food services and comfortable settings for patients. This $52,000 investment in the U.S. Memorial Health Centre will provide new equipment for meal preparation and laundry services which will improve our overall continuum of care.”

The health centre will receive a steam sterilization table and dishwasher for use in patient food preparation and a commercial washer and dryer for laundry services.

The U.S. Memorial Health Centre is a 40-bed facility that provides emergency services, long-term care, x-ray, blood collection and diagnostic imaging. The original facility was opened in 1954 as a thank you to the residents of the region, from the United States government, for helping rescue the surviving sailors of the USS Pollux and USS Truxton in 1942.

Since 2004, the Provincial Government has invested nearly $1.5 billion in health care infrastructure. Budget 2014: Shared Prosperity, Fair Society, Balanced Outlook includes a total investment of over $189 million in infrastructure, which allocates $119 million for continuing construction and redevelopment, $50.5 million for new equipment and $20 million for repairs and renovations.
