Investing in the Health of Communities and Regions

$249,000 Invested in the Connaigre Peninsula Health Centre in Harbour Breton

Communities served by the Connaigre Peninsula Health Centre in Harbour Breton will benefit from an investment of $249,000 for health care infrastructure and medical equipment.

“Health care facilities, like the Connaigre Peninsula Health Centre, are essential to providing emergency, acute and long-term medical care to the residents of our rural communities. This investment of $249,000 will help improve the care provided at this facility, increase patient safety and further complement other recent investments in this community and region such as the new dialysis unit that recently began taking patients.”
- The Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Health and Community Services

New equipment totalling $174,000 will be purchased for the facility including nine replacement beds for long-term care patients, a cardiac station and monitors as well as two dishwashers and a meal delivery cart for food services at the facility.

“This is a significant investment for the residents of Harbour Breton and surrounding communities who rely on the services provided at the Connaigre Peninsula Health Centre. These infrastructure upgrades and new equipment purchases will benefit the many individuals seeking emergency, acute and long-term attention in the region.”
- Tracey Perry, MHA for Fortune Bay - Cape La Hune

Video surveillance equipment is also being purchased at a cost of $75,000 to enhance security at the health centre.

"At Central Health we are interested in promoting resident-centred care and this investment in equipment, particularly new beds, will enhance safety and comfort for residents. This is very much in-line with our long-term care philosophy, and I'm pleased that the Provincial Government is supporting Central Health in its endeavors through this investment and others like it around the region."
- Rosemarie Goodyear, President and Chief Executive Officer, Central Health
