Investing in Long-Term Care Supports Families and Communities

Over $450,000 Invested in Lakeside Homes in Gander

Over $450,000 is being provided for upgrades and enhancements to the Lakeside Homes long-term care facility in Gander.

Lakeside Homes is being provided $425,000 to replace roofing on the two nursing units of the facility.

An additional $27,500 is allocated to purchase new adjustable geriatric chairs designed for long-term care settings that reduce sitting pressure, preserve independence, reduce falls, and improve the quality of life for the resident. Also included in this funding are upgrades to the common seating area for patients and visitors.

Since 2004, the Provincial Government has invested nearly $1.5 billion in health care infrastructure. Budget 2014: Shared Prosperity, Fair Society, Balanced Outlook, includes a total investment of over $189 million in infrastructure, which includes $119 million for continuing construction and redevelopment, $50.5 million for new equipment and $20 million for repairs and renovations.
