Statement from Premier Davis on Incident in Ottawa

The Honourable Paul Davis, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today extends thoughts and prayers to the people of Ottawa as they deal with the shooting incident on Parliament Hill.

“This awful event has touched Newfoundlanders and Labradorians and all Canadians, and our thoughts are with those in the nation’s capital at this difficult time. I express deep sympathy to the families of all those affected by this tragedy.”

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is committed to doing its utmost to continue protecting the safety and well-being of residents. The Provincial Government relies upon the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and Royal Canadian Mounted Police for the provision of security and threat and risk assessments at its public facilities.
