Premier Promotes Newfoundland and Labrador’s Petroleum Industry at International Conference

The Honourable Tom Marshall, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, led a provincial delegation to the annual Offshore Technology Conference in Houston, Texas, this week. Participants included 150 people representing 75 firms and organizations in the province’s petroleum sector.

“Newfoundland and Labrador is seeing the benefits from natural resource development and investors from around the world are taking notice of the exploration opportunities in our province and are coming to do business. The Offshore Technology Conference is an excellent venue to showcase local companies and expertise within our supply and service sector which are leading the petroleum industry into the future.”
- The Honourable Tom Marshall, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador

While at the Offshore Technology Conference, Premier Marshall participated in a Canadian Press Conference hosted by the Canadian Embassy. The Premier highlighted some of the tremendous activity happening in the province’s offshore including the Bay du Nord oil discovery in the Flemish Pass Basin, three new basins in offshore Labrador, implementation of a scheduled land tenure system, and development of the Hebron Project.

Located in the Canadian Pavilion, the province’s booth was well attended with increased interest in recent discoveries and the status of new developments. The booth includes a private meeting room and participant networking area, and pictorials of the province’s offshore projects, fabrication, and infrastructure.
