Sprucewood Academy Roofing Project Tendered

LSG Construction of Gander has been awarded a tender, valued at more than $178,500, to undertake a roofing project at Sprucewood Academy in Grand Falls-Windsor.

“It is important that we continue to upgrade and maintain existing school infrastructure in order to protect the public’s investment, and to ensure our schools remain safe and comfortable teaching and learning environments. That is why, since 2004, the Provincial Government has taken a systematic approach to funding more than 1,900 priority repairs and maintenance projects at schools throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.”

“With this tender awarded, close to $746,000 has been invested in Sprucewood Academy in recent years and with upgrades to other area schools, almost $2.5 million has been approved for school and school board infrastructure located in Grand Falls-Windsor - Green Bay South since 2004. This is in addition to the approximately $18.7 million allocated to Exploits Valley Intermediate and Exploits Valley High, where many of my constituents attend junior and senior high school.”

Since 2004, more than $681 million has been allocated for K-12 infrastructure including almost $236 million for over 1,900 repairs and maintenance projects. Thirteen new schools have opened; nine more are in various stages of planning or construction; 27 major extensions and renovation projects have been completed, and 10 more are underway.
