Celebrating Families through Christmas Lights Across Canada

60,000 Bulbs Will Illuminate Confederation Building and Prince Phillip Parkway

The annual Christmas tree lighting at Confederation Hill in St. John’s will take place tomorrow (Thursday, December 5) as part of the 2013 Christmas Lights Across Canada celebrations.

The festivities will begin at 6:15 p.m. and will feature a variety of special guests, including the Roncalli Elementary School Choir, the Royal Newfoundland Regiment Band, and radio host Mitch Colbourne from 99.1 HITS FM. Refreshments will follow in the main lobby of the Confederation Building.

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is committed to supporting important social programs, strong communities and the health and well-being of children, families and seniors.

QUICK FACTS

• The Christmas Lights Across Canada program was launched in 1985 to brighten the Ottawa winter, and the program expanded over the years to include 13 provincial and territorial capitals.
• Newfoundland and Labrador joined the Christmas Lights Across Canada celebration in 1987, this year will mark the 27th annual ceremony.
