NLHC Homes to Receive Upgrades in Northern Labrador
Paulo Ventures Inc. has been awarded two contracts valued at $143,000 to
provide upgrades to three Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation (NLHC)
homes in northern Labrador.
“Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation continues to make significant investments in social housing and I am very happy to announce this new funding for Labrador,” said the Honourable Paul Davis, Minister Responsible for NLHC. “There have been substantial investments in the Labrador region over the past couple of years, including the construction of four new units in both Nain and Hopedale, with a total Provincial Government investment of $1.9 million.”
The unit being upgraded in Nain will undergo foundation repairs. In Hopedale, two units will receive interior renovations, including door, window and bathroom fixture replacements and painting. It is anticipated that both projects will be completed in 2013.
“Our government’s commitment to providing safe and affordable social housing in Labrador is helping to improve the lives of many families and individuals in need,” said the Honourable Nick McGrath, Minister Responsible for Labrador Affairs. “These upgrades will help make the units more comfortable for the people who call them home. I am pleased to see these investments and I look forward to the completion of the renovations.”
Budget 2013: A Sound Plan, A Secure Future provides $10 million for NLHC’s Modernization and Improvement Program. Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation is the province’s largest landlord, with 5,556 affordable rental units province-wide.
