More than $1.3 Million in Transportation Upgrades for Trinity - Bay De Verde

Two recent tenders with a combined value of more than $1.3 million will see significant transportation improvements in the Trinity - Bay de Verde area as the Provincial Government continues to deliver on its 2013-14 provincial roads program.

“Significant road and highway improvements are taking place throughout the province as we enhance the driving experience for motorists,” said the Honourable Paul Davis, Minister of Transportation and Works. “With each and every project undertaken, we are delivering long-term benefits for residents and we are also providing economic benefits for local companies and the communities in which they are working.”

Concord Paving was awarded a contract valued at $372,000 to upgrade and repave sections of Route 80 near New Melbourne and Route 73, New Harbour Barrens.

Edward Collins Contracting was awarded a contract valued at $1,013,000 to replace culverts on Route 70 at Caplin Cove and on Route 74 at Tibbity Brook and Eastern Rocky Brook.

“I am very pleased to see these upgrades taking place in the Trinity - Bay de Verde area,” said Charlene Johnson, Minister of Child, Youth and Family Services and MHA for Trinity - Bay de Verde. “Investments such as these continue to demonstrate our government’s commitment to improving the transportation network in all areas of our province.”

Through Budget 2013: A Sound Plan, A Secure Future, Provincial Government spending will exceed $866 million in infrastructure investments to help drive economic activity and generate 5,330 person years of employment.
