Port au Port Peninsula to Benefit from Over $944,000 in Road Work

Construction will soon begin on the Port au Port Peninsula with the recent awarding of a contract to Humber Valley Paving valued at more than $944,000. The Honourable Paul Davis, Minister of Transportation and Works, announced the contract today in Three Rock Cove.

“Our government continues to deliver on a long list of priority transportation projects like the $944,000 in road improvements for the Port au Port Peninsula,” said Minister Davis. “We remain focused on the province’s long-term prosperity with investments in sustainable infrastructure improvements that continue to drive economic activity and prosperity for the people and communities of Newfoundland and Labrador.”

The tender calls for repairs to Route 460 near Gaudon’s Brook and resurfacing of Route 463 from Lourdes towards Mainland.

“This is great news for residents in the Port au Port area,” said Tony Cornect, MHA for Port au Port. “I am very pleased to see the Provincial Government continuing to invest in rural communities throughout the province.”

Through Budget 2013: A Sound Plan, A Secure Future, Provincial Government spending will exceed $866 million on infrastructure projects and will generate 5,330 person years of employment. Investments are being made in all regions of Newfoundland and Labrador in key areas such as roads, bridges, marine services, health, education, municipal works, buildings and aquaculture.
