Bonavista Peninsula to Benefit from $554,076 in Highway Improvements
Various highways on the Bonavista Peninsula will soon receive upgrades, thanks to a recent tender awarded to J-1 Contracting Ltd., valued at $554,076. The Honourable Paul Davis, Minister of Transportation and Works, joined Glen Little, MHA for Bonavista South, to make the announcement today in King’s Cove.
“Our investment of more than $554,000 is part of our provincial roads program allowing for enhancements to roads and highways across all regions of our province,” said the Minister Davis. “Residents, tourists and businesses all benefit as we continue to invest significantly in transportation infrastructure improvements.”
The tender calls for several highway improvements for King’s Cove, Elliston and Route 230 between Bonavista and Trinity Bay North.
“I am so pleased to see these upgrades taking place on highways throughout the Bonavista Peninsula,” said MHA Little. “Tourism is big business in our area, and all the enhancements we make to infrastructure boost the overall experience for visitors, who come from all over the world to see our beautiful peninsula.”
Through Budget 2013: A Sound Plan, A Secure Future, Provincial Government spending will exceed $866 million in infrastructure investments to help drive economic activity and generate 5,330 person years of employment.
