Public Advisory: Motorists Urged to Use Caution as
More Rain Expected on Burin Peninsula
The Department of Transportation and Works is advising residents on the Burin Peninsula to continue to use caution, as more rain is expected over a 24-hour period, beginning tonight (Tuesday, August 13).
Officials with Environment Canada are forecasting rainfall amounts for the south coast of the island between 12 to 35 mm, with some areas to reach a possible 40 mm.
Residents on the Burin Peninsula are encouraged to monitor local forecasts and conditions. Motorists should be extra vigilant, as further rainfall may soften more road shoulders or create additional washouts.
