Public Advisory: Westbound Lanes of Trans Canada Highway near Pasadena Being
Rerouted
Motorists are advised that effective immediately the westbound lanes of the
Trans Canada Highway (TCH) between Exits 13 and 12 near the Town of Pasadena
are closed with traffic rerouted through the community. The technical
assessment of the area today resulted in the decision to close the highway.
Westbound traffic on the TCH is being diverted at Exit 13 to Main Street
(former TCH Route) in the Town of Pasadena. The detour is approximately six
kilometres with traffic re-entering the TCH just past Exit 12. Drivers are
asked to take due care when driving through the Town of Pasadena and are
reminded that Main Street is a lower speed road. This change does not affect
traffic moving eastbound on the TCH.
On April 29, 2013, a section of the westbound lanes of TCH near Exit 12
collapsed following a period of heavy rain and rising water levels in Deer
Lake. Geotechnical consultants are on site to assess the damage and
determine the cause of the problem. The detour will remain in place until
further notice while the full geotechnical assessment is undertaken.
