The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

2014 Juvenile Boys and Girls Regional Basketball Camps

The head coaches for the 2014 Juvenile Boys and Girls Regional Hoop Programs, Mark English (Male) and Geoff Moore (Female), will hold open tryout sessions in the St. John’s region to identify potential athletes for the program. Selected athletes will train for 8-10 weeks to prepare for the upcoming provincial tryouts during Easter week.

The tryout sessions will take place on Saturday, December 21 and Sunday, December 22 at the Newfoundland and Labrador Sports Centre on Crosbie Road. Tryout times for the male program are: 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. Tryout times for the female program are: 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. The sessions are open to all athletes in the St. John’s Metro region born in 1997 or 1998.

Registration will take place on site and there will be a $15 registration fee payable to the Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association. Athletes are asked to bring their MCP numbers, a reversible jersey and their own basketball. The head coaches may make cuts after the second training session on Saturday afternoon.
