Media Advisory: Minister to Present Offshore Helicopter Accident Memorial Design

The Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, will be at Quidi Vidi Lake tomorrow (Wednesday, October 30) to present the design of the Offshore Helicopter Accident Memorial. The event will take place at the memorial site on the southside of the Boulevard (in the vicinity of the bandstand), beginning at 10:00 a.m. Minister French will be joined by Danny Breen, City of St. John’s, other family members of those lost, the Offshore Helicopter Accident Memorial committee and industry representatives.

The Offshore Helicopter Memorial will commemorate the victims of the crash of Cougar 491 in 2009 and the 1985 Universal helicopter crash. The design was chosen by the committee of family members and representatives from the Provincial Government, industry, labour and the arts community.
