The following is being distributed at the request of School Sports Newfoundland and Labrador:

School Sports Newfoundland and Labrador Holding Provincial Cross Country Running in Springdale this Weekend

A provincial cross-country running event will be hosted by Indian River High this weekend in Springdale. Provincial team and individual champions will be declared in Senior Boys, Senior Girls, Junior Boys and Junior Girls divisions.

Schools registered for the Senior Girls Team event are: Indian River High, (Springdale), Gonzaga High (St. John’s), Gander Collegiate, Stephenville High, Viking Trail Academy (Plum Point), Bayside Academy (Port Hope Simpson) and Mealy Mountain Collegiate (Happy Valley-Goose Bay).

Teams registered for the Senior Boys team are: Stephenville High, Menihek High (Labrador City), Gonzaga High (St. John’s), Clarenville High, Lewisporte Collegiate, King Academy (Harbour Breton) Hampden Academy, Gros Morne Academy (Rocky Harbour) and St. Mary’s All Grade (Mary’s Harbour).

Teams registered for the Junior Girls are: St. Bon’s College (St. John’s), Labrador Straits Academy (L’Anse Au Loup), Clarenville Middle School, Glovertown Academy, King Academy (Harbour Breton), Canon Richards Memorial (Flower’s Cove), Dorset Collegiate (Pilley’s Island), G. C. Rowe Junior High (Corner Brook) and Copper Ridge Academy (Baie Verte).

Teams registered for the Junior Boys are: Stephenville High, Copper Ridge Academy (Baie Verte), Dorset Collegiate (Pilley’s Island) St. Mary’s All Grade (Mary’s Harbour), Lewisporte Intermediate, St. Bon’s College (St. John’s) and Clarenville Middle School.

Schools registered for the individual events include: Copper Ridge Academy (Baie Verte), Henry Gordon Academy (Cartwright), Holy Heart of Mary (St. John’s), St. Lawrence Academy, Stella Maris Academy (Trepassey), Valmont Academy (King’s Point) J. C. Erhardt Memorial (Makkovik), St. Lewis Academy, Bay d’Espoir Academy (Milltown), Gander Collegiate, Corner Brook Regional High, Menihek High (Labrador City), King Academy (Harbour Breton), Marystown Central High, Lewisporte Collegiate, Fitzgerald Academy (English Hr. West), J. M. Olds Collegiate (Twillingate), Bonne Bay Academy (Woody Point), Gros Morne Academy (Rocky Harbour), Holy Name of Mary Academy (Lawn), Viking Trail Academy (Plum Point), St. Paul’s Intermediate (Gander), Bayside Academy (Port Hope Simpson), Exploits Valley High (Grand Falls-Windsor), Victoria Academy (Gaultois), St. Boniface All Grade (Ramea), Burgeo Academy and Prince of Wales Collegiate (St. John’s).

Gold, silver and bronze individual medals, as well as gold and silver team medals and championship banners will be awarded to the winning teams. School Sports Newfoundland and Labrador believes strongly in the values and principles of sportsmanship. In recognition of this, an individual sportsmanship medal will be presented to deserving persons. School Sports Newfoundland and Labrador tournaments are made possible, in part, because of the generous support of corporate sponsors, including Subway and Dairy Farmers Association School Milk Foundation.
