Province Seeking Members for 2015 Canada Winter Games Mission Staff

The Provincial Government is looking for energetic and experienced volunteers to become members of Team Newfoundland and Labrador’s 2015 Canada Winter Games mission staff.

“The members of the mission staff play an integral role in the organization and success of Team Newfoundland and Labrador,” said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “Members of the mission staff will provide logistical support and guidance to almost 400 Newfoundland and Labrador athletes, coaches and managers as they prepare for the country’s premier amateur sporting event. Volunteers in sport are key players in the advancement of athletics throughout Newfoundland and Labrador, and I encourage people to apply to be a member of this team and assist our young athletes as they strive for a place on the Canada Games podium.”

Held every two years, alternating summer and winter, the Canada Games were established in 1967, and Newfoundland and Labrador has been represented at every games since. The province hosted the 1977 Canada Summer Games in St. John's and the 1999 Canada Winter Games in Corner Brook. Newfoundland and Labrador will host the games again in 2021.
