Upgrades Coming to CLB Facility in Conception Bay South
The Old Comrades Hut, owned by the Church Lads’ Brigade (CLB) Old Comrades Association Branch #2, will undergo upgrades with the support of a $15,000 grant from the Provincial Government’s Community Capital Grant Program.
“This $15,000 grant will be used to assist with enhancements to the hut frequently used by various groups such as the Church Lads Brigade, reservists and cadets as well as the clearing of an approximately 5,000 square foot area for recreation purposes,” said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “The new area will serve as a green space for these groups and others who enjoy outdoor recreation.”
The CLB Old Comrades Association Branch #2 is among the many community-based organizations, municipalities, schools, and recreation commissions that have received funding to upgrade their recreation and sport infrastructure through these latest capital grant program investments.
Budget 2013: A Sound Plan, A Secure Future provides $7.7 million to support recreation and sport in the province. Since the launch of Active, Healthy Newfoundland and Labrador: A Recreation and Sport Strategy for Newfoundland and Labrador in 2007, approximately $172 million has been committed to recreational and sport infrastructure, programming, and athlete development throughout the province.
