The following is being distributed at the request of School Sports Newfoundland and Labrador:

School Sports Newfoundland and Labrador Holding Annual General Meeting in St. John’s

School Sports NL will hold its 42nd Annual General Meeting this weekend at the Capital Hotel in St. John's. Approximately 50 delegates from across the province will come together to review the 2012-13 programs and to plan for the 2013-14 school year.

The change in the setup of school districts from four English boards to one board for the entire province will undoubtedly be a topic of discussion. According to Dennis Lush, President of School Sports NL, “Our organization has made strides this past year to work more closely with the personnel at the school distrusts to ensure we provide the best educational sport program that we can. I am confident that we continue in that direction when the new board is established. I look forward to working with them.”

The AGM delegates will be discussing how to expand the high school program to make them more inclusive, and there will be a presentation on concussion awareness, in addition to the business meeting. Numerous resolutions dealing with school sports rules and regulations will also be discussed.

School Sports Newfoundland and Labrador will hold its annual awards banquet in conjunction with the AGM. The provinces top student athletes and coaches will be honored Friday evening at the Capital Hotel.
