The Rooms Chair Pleased to Announce CEO Will Remain at The Rooms

Tom Foran, Chair, The Rooms Corporation Board of Directors, is pleased to announce that Dean Brinton, CEO of The Rooms Corporation, has withdrawn his name as candidate for President of NSCAD University given his commitment to The Rooms.

“The Rooms has realized great success since opening in 2005” said Mr. Foran. “Much of that success can be attributed to the efforts of Dean Brinton, along with the continued support of the Board of Directors and the Provincial Government.”

Since opening, The Rooms has raised approximately $7 million from non-government sources to fund capital projects, large-scale exhibitions and educational programs. In March 2013, The Rooms announced a $1 million anonymous donation to fund the enhancement of its grounds. In July 2013, it will open two new galleries totalling 7,000 square feet which were funded by a $2.5 million contribution from Husky Energy and $1 million from Elinor Gill Ratcliffe.

In 2016, Newfoundland and Labrador will mark a significant anniversary – the 100th anniversary of Beaumont Hamel.

“As a Newfoundlander and Labradorian, this story resonates with me, as it does for so many. I am deeply committed to this project and ensuring The Rooms plays a significant role in the telling of this story for the people of the province,” said Dean Brinton. “With this in mind, I advised the NSCAD Presidential Search Committee on May 20, 2013 that I was withdrawing my name as a candidate.”
