Provincial Basketball Championships Taking Place this Weekend

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association will be hosting 37 teams this weekend, April 26-28, in six provincial competitions throughout the province in the Grade 11 age group. The East Coast Boys A Provincials will feature nine teams at Gonzaga High in St. John’s while the B event will be played at Baltimore High in Ferryland with eight teams entered. Laval of Placentia will host the five team Girls A event while Bishops in St. John’s plays host to the five teams entered in the B division.

On the west coast, Exploits Valley High and Exploits Valley Intermediate Schools of Grand Falls-Windsor will host the boys and girls championships with 10 teams competing for the titles.

This is the final weekend for the NLBA’s provincial championships. More than 300 teams competed in the NLBA school provincials over the past three months.

Play gets under way on Friday afternoon and will conclude with the championship games Saturday evening or Sunday morning. For a complete list of all teams and schedules please visit the NLBA website at www.nlba.nf.ca or contact the provincial office at 709-576-0247.
