Upgrades Coming to Centennial Recreation Complex
The Town of Grand Falls-Windsor has received a $15,000 Community Capital Grant from the Provincial Government to improve the town’s recreation complex.
“This funding will be used to assist with the purchase of soccer goal nets, portable pitching mounds and an electric ice edger,” said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “These upgrades will promote greater participation in sports by providing children and youth in the community with greater opportunities to participate in competitive and recreational activities.”
The Town of Grand Falls-Windsor is among the many community-based organizations, municipalities, schools and recreation commissions that have received funding to upgrade their recreation and sport infrastructure through these latest capital grant program investments.
“Being active is a vital part of a healthy lifestyle,” said the Honourable Susan Sullivan, Minister of Health and Community Services and MHA for Grand Falls-Windsor-Buchans. “This latest funding ensures that residents of Grand Falls-Windsor and area continue to have access to excellent sports and recreational infrastructure.”
As part of the Provincial Government’s recreation and sport strategy, Active Healthy Newfoundland and Labrador, launched 2007, Budget 2012 provided $8.6 million to support recreation and sport in the province.
