Minister Applauds Successful SnowWest 2013

SnowWest, an annual celebration of winter fun organized by the Western Destination Management Organization and its partners, concluded successfully this past weekend to the delight of hundreds of participants.

“Our province boasts tremendous tourism opportunities all year round, and SnowWest continues to highlight the wide array of winter activities people can enjoy right here at home,” said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “I congratulate all the volunteers and organizations that were involved with making the 2013 festivities such a success, and I continue to encourage Newfoundlanders and Labradoreans to get out and explore all the fun winter activities that are available to them throughout the province.”

SnowWest was first staged in 2011 and has been attracting winter enthusiasts ever since. The events this year included alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, comedy, evening entertainment and some memorable cuisine.

“The Western Destination Management Organization is extremely pleased with the number and the quality of events this year, and we are delighted with the crowds of people who made the most of SnowWest 2013,” said Mark Lamswood, Executive Director of the Western Destination Management Organization. “The operators who helped make Snow West 2013 a success showed once again that the tourism products in this province are second to none, and we look forward to working with them again to continue our success next year.”
