New Vacation Packages Highlight Opportunities for Winter Fun

Unique winter vacation packages are part of a new province-wide advertising campaign launched this week to remind Newfoundlanders and Labradorians that there are tremendous tourism opportunities throughout the province in every season.

“There are so many options to consider when planning winter travel here at home,” said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “The packages and offers in this campaign include a wide variety of winter activities like skiing, snowmobiling, zip lining, snowshoeing, hiking, and enjoying a weekend getaway to see a hockey game.”

The winter advertising campaign will run for six weeks, and for the first time, television commercials will be used to promote winter travel to residents in addition to newspaper, online, and radio ads.

“Resident tourism activity continues to play a major role in sustaining the success of our provincial tourism industry,” said Minister French. “This campaign will encourage people to take advantage of all winter has to offer by highlighting experiences across a wide spectrum of interests that range from adrenalin rushes to romance and relaxation.”

Vacation packages, special offers, videos, television advertisements and photographs from the campaign are featured on the Provincial Government’s tourism website: www.newfoundlandlabrador.com.
