Families and Communities Benefit from
Enhanced Access to Services in 2013

Vital Statistics Division Launched New Services in 2013

Improving access to important services was a key priority for Service NL in 2013 with the integrated birth registration service for new parents and a new service for obtaining birth, marriage and death certificates online.

“These new services are providing individuals with easier access to government programs, whether it’s our new Bundled Birth Service package to help new parents apply for Federal and Provincial Government child benefits, or the new online service for birth, marriage and death certificates. By improving such important services, this government is demonstrating its commitment to families and communities.”
- The Honourable Dan Crummell, Minister of Service NL

The new online service for obtaining birth, marriage and death certificates has proven successful with over 1,700 applications submitted to date. It allows users to order and pay for their certificates without having to physically visit a Government Service Centre.

The new Bundled Birth Service provides new parents with a convenient service package in hospital at the time of birth. The package contains materials needed to complete the birth registration form with the Vital Statistics Division of Service NL and at the same time consent to the child’s birth information being shared with other Federal and Provincial Government departments. It provides access to multiple programs for their newborn with minimal paperwork and does not require a visit to a Government Service Centre.

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is committed to supporting important social programs, strong communities and the health and well-being of children, families and seniors.
