The Motor Registration Division (MRD) of Service NL is advising the public that “J” series licence plates will start to appear on new vehicles within this month. The “H” series had been in effect since April 1997. The letter “I” is not used due to its resemblance to the number one. MRD has informed policing agencies of the issuance of the “J” series plates.
Service NL is also taking this opportunity to remind people that some services including vehicle registration renewals can be completed online at www.eservices.gov.nl.ca. If customers have any questions about MRD services such as road tests, driver records, driver licence renewals or any other services, they can call MRD toll-free at 1-877-636-6867.
