Media Advisory: Minister to Participate in Agriculture Tour

The Honourable Tom Marshall, Minister of Natural Resources and Minister Responsible for the Forestry and Agrifoods Agency, will see firsthand new developments in the province’s agriculture industry on Tuesday, September 10, at 10:00 a.m. in Cormack.

The Minister will first view wheat being harvested at Rideout’s Field. Winter wheat trials were established in 2012 in response to continuous increases in the cost of imported grain used in the dairy and poultry industries. Then, the Minister will visit an adjacent farm operation, Humber Valley Potato, which plans to grow grain in rotation with its potato crop.

A departmental official will meet the media at the entrance to Cormack (off the Viking Trail) at 9:30 a.m. to be escorted to the fields (a distance of about 10 kilometres). In the case of inclement weather the tour will be rescheduled to Wednesday, September 11.
