Call for Bids Includes Multiple Offshore Regions

The 2013 Call for Bids announced yesterday by the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) reflects a continued interest in the exploration opportunities in Newfoundland and Labrador with parcels of land available in multiple regions.

“This Call for Bids is a result of nominations received from industry in the fall of 2012,” said the Honourable Tom Marshall, Minister of Natural Resources. “We are encouraged by industry’s ongoing interest in the prospective offshore regions of our province. We expect that this call will help generate increased investment in the province, and contribute to long-term growth and sustainability of the industry.”

Call for Bids NL13-01 consists of one parcel in the Flemish Pass Basin. Call for Bids NL13-02 consists of four parcels in the Carson Basin. Call for Bids NL13-03 consists of four parcels in the Western Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Region. The exploration rights to a total of 2,409,020 hectares of land are up for bidding. Additional information about each of the parcels and the licence terms and conditions are available on the C-NLOPB’s website at www.cnlopb.nl.ca/.

“Newfoundland and Labrador has a healthy portfolio of outstanding work commitments of approximately $1 billion,” said Minister Marshall. “We are optimistic that new exploration activity will support future discoveries, and the development of our valuable oil and gas resources.”
